Dear [FIRST],

An employee who was terminated for unsafe work practices has been awarded nine weeks' wages in lieu of reinstatement.

In other local news, two police officers can have their psychiatric damages claims reheard in the New South Wales Court of Appeal; material safety data sheets (MSDS) could pose a nanomaterial risk; New South Wales (NSW) employers are the target of a new anti-bullying campaign; and no excess breast cancer risk has been found among the ABC's female employees Australia-wide.

On the overseas' front, the discovery of multiple and repeat safety violations in US oil refineries is 'deeply troubling'; BP's oil capture and containment strategy in the Gulf of Mexico is being expanded under US Government direction, but oil continues to flow into the Gulf of Mexico; a new international HIV and AIDS workplace recommendation has been adopted; and UK Prime Minister David Cameron has announced a review of the UK's health and safety laws and compensation culture.

For more on these stories and other OHS news, read the safety and training updates below.
